After a starting ceremony attended by more than 800,000 people in Buenos Aires, the competitors in the Dakar left Buenos Aires and headed to the first bivouac.

The 12th stage of Dakar brought us some changes on overall results.
The day was marked by the accident of the spanish rider, Carlos Sainz, injuring his co-pilot, Michel Perinand, and leading to their drop out.

After seven days of the Dakar journey through Argentina and Chile, riders got one day to rest and prepare for the second half of the challenge.
